well yann, that is a good question. WSJ Online seems to be extremely successful actually and needs no help from their print counterpart. WSJ actually owns other online financial websites like barrons and marketwatch. In addition they have around 750,000 subscribers worldwide. Some of these are print AND online subscribers but some of them are just online subscribers.

and that is enough of my brainwashed wsj knowledge. all i know it is successful enough to pay the bills. nark.

hey agata, I'm curious about something. how succesful is the wsj online? Do they have enough paying customers/advertisers to be a separate economic entity? or do they operate at a loss, with the print wsj covering the cost so that they keep readers?

Hmm. I hope that doesn't sound prying or judgemental, I'm really just curious!

I'll definitely check out the free stuff while it's available, thanks for that.

geez I've been posting here a lot lately.

terry gross interviews jeff goldblum about his new pseudo-mockumentary/documentary Pittsburgh. He returns to Pittsburgh to play a part in a community production of the Music Man to be with new his Canadian girlfriend, who needs to work in the US to get a green card. Supposedly some of this movie is real, and some isn't. To learn more, check out

Otherwise, just go see the movie in... new york.
