After posting my 2 cents, I take back the part about a thread's image appearing at the right, in the same spot as the main page's thumbnails -- I bet most of our images would be cropped & look awful. I see your difficulty, Jon. Maybe the image could be automatically resized, and appear just below the thread title, and above the thread starter's first post?
